The California Pro is an All Water race board, handcrafted in Poland. It is designed for racers who want to compete in any conditions, from flat water and choppy conditions to demanding downwind runs. It excels in sprints, technical races and long-distance events.

It was created for racers who want a single board for many types of competition in varying conditions. It combines high speed with control and a strong sense of stability.

A distinctive feature of the construction is the lowered dugout with exceptionally generous foot space. As a result, the 21.5" wide board offers comfort comparable to boards 23-23.5" wide, while retaining the performance typical of narrower race boards.

The California Pro is built in Poland using our proprietary BASS LCG technology, which combines top-quality materials, modern engineering and handcrafted production, delivering very low weight together with high structural strength.

Specifications

The Shaper on the California Pro

The California Pro was created for racers who don't want to choose between speed, control and versatility. From the very beginning, I wanted to build a race board that would be equally effective on flat water, on choppy water and in downwind conditions. Every element of its construction has been designed so that racers can make full use of their potential across different disciplines and conditions.

The California Pro was created for advanced racers with good balance who are looking for a single board to compete in a variety of conditions. It is a model for those who expect maximum performance and full control of the board across different racing disciplines.

This is a versatile All Water board with an exceptionally spacious dugout, providing 4-5 cm more room than many boards of the same width. This gives the racer the comfort typical of wider constructions without sacrificing the performance of narrower race boards.

The California Pro's greatest strength is the combination of versatility and handling comfort. It is one board for many disciplines, different bodies of water and changing conditions, giving the racer confidence, control and high performance without the need for compromise.

Discover the construction

The California Pro is the result of a deliberately engineered design in which every element serves a specific purpose. Discover the features behind this board's speed, control and versatility.

Deck

The high-volume nose gives the racer greater comfort and control, especially when riding in more challenging conditions. As a result, the California Pro handles confidently on choppy water while retaining its racing character.

The lowered dugout lets the racer stand closer to the water's surface, improving stability and board control. With approximately 4-5 cm of additional space, the 21.5″ wide board offers the comfort typical of wider constructions while retaining the speed of narrower race boards.

The gently cut-away tail makes quick buoy turns easier and increases control when riding with the swell. As a result, the California Pro excels in sprints, technical races, long-distance events and downwind.

Hull

The highly buoyant, rounded nose section, with a subtly defined sharp bow line, is designed so that the water can effectively drive the board forward. As a result, the California Pro easily reaches and maintains high speed and a smooth glide. This is the part of the board responsible for the drive of the entire construction.

The combination of a subtle V-Shape with Double Concave, which smoothly transitions into a light V-Shape in the rear of the board, provides a high level of board control in challenging conditions, when riding downwind and on the swell.

Rails that are rounded at the front and subtly sharpened at the rear allow side swell to flow freely around the board, increasing control and confidence in demanding conditions.

Discover the character of California Pro

  • very high volume for comfort and control, especially in challenging conditions,
  • accelerates superbly and easily maintains high speed,
  • one board for racing on both flat water and choppy water,
  • performs in sprints, as well as technical races, all the way to long distance,
  • combines versatility with the performance of a modern All Water race board

On the water

From the very first strokes, the California Pro gives a sense of control and confident handling. The high volume of the entire construction provides the racer with a high level of comfort, while the refined geometry allows quick acceleration and easily maintained high speed, on flat water as well as in demanding conditions.

The spacious dugout, high volume and carefully considered hull design make the board feel secure underfoot, make buoy turns easier and give excellent performance when riding swell. As a result, the California Pro is equally at home in sprints, technical races, long distance and downwind conditions.

This is a race board for racers who want a single board to compete across different disciplines, on different bodies of water and in changing conditions. The California Pro combines versatility, control and performance, allowing racers to make full use of their potential.

FAQ

The California Pro has been designed so that racers don't have to choose between speed, control and stability. It is the result of a deliberately engineered design in which high volume, a three-zone hull geometry, streamlined rails, a deep and spacious dugout and a carefully shaped tail work together. As a result, the California Pro accelerates effectively, maintains high speed and delivers confident handling on flat water, on choppy water and in downwind conditions.

A good All Water SUP board should have a deliberately engineered design in which all elements work together. The right volume provides control and prevents the nose from submerging in challenging conditions. Streamlined rails allow side swell to flow freely around the board, increasing stability and confident handling. A well-designed hull is responsible for drive, smooth glide and control, while the spacious dugout and cut-away tail make it easier to use your body, turn and handle the board on swell and when riding downwind. It is the cooperation of all these elements that makes the board perform effectively on flat water as well as on choppy water.

Width is chosen primarily according to the racer's skill level, riding style, preferences and build. The California Pro offers an exceptionally spacious dugout, so the 21.5″ model provides comfort comparable to boards 23–23.5″ wide.

Yes. All California Pro widths have been designed according to the same construction philosophy. The stability of the board does not come from its width alone, but above all from the combination of deliberately engineered elements: the high volume of the entire construction and the nose section, a well-shaped hull with V-Shape and Double Concave, streamlined rails, a lowered and spacious dugout, and the tail geometry. As a result, every California Pro width offers the stability typical of wider boards while retaining the performance of narrower race boards. The key, however, is to choose the right width for the racer's skill level, riding style, preferences and build.

Yes. The California Pro can be built in a Custom version. You can choose:

  • custom dimensions + standard design,

  • custom dimensions + your own design,

  • standard dimensions + your own artwork.

You will find a detailed description of the ordering process in the "Custom" tab.

Discover the Shaper's Philosophy

1. What guides you when designing BASS boards?

Every element of a board must serve a specific purpose. I do not design boards around a single parameter. Instead, I look for the right balance between speed, control, stability and handling comfort. I design each model for the conditions and riding style it was created for.

2. Is there such a thing as the perfect SUP board?

Yes, I know the perfect SUP board exists, but it means something different to everyone. That is why, when designing BASS boards, I aim to create models that match their intended purpose and riding style as closely as possible. Our standard models are the result of many years of experience and have been developed to suit the needs of the vast majority of riders. For those who want the best possible fit, we build boards in the Custom version, where dimensions and configuration are individually selected to match your build, skill level and riding style. The better a board is matched to its owner, the closer it comes to perfection.

3. How is a new model created?

A new model never happens by chance. It always begins with a need: changing conditions, the evolution of the discipline, a new riding style or the desire to solve a specific problem. Only then do I begin searching for design solutions that will deliver the intended result. Every change must be justified and bring a real benefit on the water. I do not design new models just to be different. I design them when I know they can get even closer to perfection.

4. Why does every BASS board have its own character?

Every BASS board has its own character because each one is developed from the ground up as an original design. Whether it is a raceboard, longboard, downwind board or wingfoil board, I always strive to create something the market is still missing. I do not copy ready-made designs. I develop my own solutions and technologies so that they serve riders' needs even better. Every board is the result of my experience, many hours of testing and a constant search for better solutions. That is why even our standard models have a unique character.
